Shooting tips for u-6

Jamie on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

Place kids parallel to goal relatively close, but spread out the width of the field. Each child should have a ball. Call each player by name and have them shoot. After each child has shot, almost all balls will be in goal. Have kids get balls and move back five steps. Mix the kids up so they are not shooting from same angle. Have them shoot again. Each distance they move back fewer balls will reach the goal. When no balls go in, I have the kids sit and ask them why they think the closer they were the more went in and why the further back they got fewer went in. After each shootout I also speak to them about what happened when they use their toes or laces etc. Safety tip--Do not allow kids to get balls until everyone has had a chance to shoot.
