Sharks and Minnows

Start by marking out an area of cones on your field. A general rule would be take half the length and half the width of the field your age group is using.
Have one or two kids start of as "sharks" without a ball. The rest of the kids are issued a ball and they are "minnows." The goal of the minnows is to evade the sharks and make it from one end to the other while dribbling the ball. The goal of the sharks is to take away the ball from the minnows by kicking it across either the starting point or the two sides (but not through the end the minnows are trying to reach.)
If a minnows ball is forced out of bounds they become a "shark." (The ball must be taken all the way out by the shark.) The minnows keep swimming until they are all caught by the rest of the team "the sharks" The last one or two minnows are rewarded by starting as sharks for the next go-around. I play this two or three times with my U8's and they love it!
