Pop-Fly's a cause for Tennis Elbow

Matt Gerling on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

When teaching young players how to catch pop-flyís use a Tennis Racket and Tennis Balls. Have the kids spread out around the edge of the infield. Then working side to side at the start call their name, bat the tennis ball up with the tennis racket for a nice pop fly. The kids can focus on the bright yellow of the tennis ball easily and the soft tennis ball is less intimidating to the kids. Therefore, they are more likely to listen to you and ìGet Under the Ballî. The kids love it! At practice it has turned into a reward to use the tennis racket. You can also use the tennis racket and tennis balls for other defensive practice to get the kids after the ball and not scared of it.
