Catch, Throw & Run

Here is a great drill that I love using as a pregame warmup. It emcompasses three important aspects of baseball and gets everybody ready to play.
Split your team into three equal groups with all players wearing their gloves. Place one group in a line in left field to catch fly balls. Place the second group near the short stop position to receive the relay throw from the outfield and to relay the ball to a coach at home. The third group shall start at third base as runners. Have a coach positioned at third base toss a fly ball to the first outfielder in line. When the catch is made the fielder shall throw to the first player in the cutoff position, who then relays the ball home to an awaiting coach playing catcher. The first runner on third shall tag and run, hoping to beat the throw home. The players shall then rotate in the following manner: The runner shall go to the end of the outfield line, the outfielder making the catch shall go to the end of the cutoff line, and the player making the relay shall go to the end of the runner's line.
Run this drill as many times as you like. This drill emphasizes catching fly balls and relay throws, making accurate throws and baserunning basics that get the players adequately warmed up for the game.
