Stay Crouched

Glenn Middleton on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

When teaching batters to watch the ball be sure to let them know NOT to get up from their batting crouch on a high, but close pitch. Often (as an umpire) I've watched kids know the ball is going high so they stand upright before the ball crosses the plate. This then moves the strike zone up, often several inches. So the pitch that might have otherwise been high & a "Ball" is now a "Strike"!
