Be less intimidating

John W Clark on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

I coach a Pee-Wee football team (7-9 yr olds) and when I want to talk to an individual player or a small group of players, I usually do so by taking a knee, bringing me down to their eye level. I actually did this before realizing its benefit. Players of this age are often scared by a more agressive domineering coaching approach, which I do not oppose for older players. At this age, a potential star may drop the sport because he isn't having fun...I have seen this too many times over the years.
