Dribbling

Michelle Bird on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

A good and fun way to teach youth to dribble the ball is to play a game I call Dog Catcher. Dog Catcher is simple, just have kids think of their ball as their dog, they have to kick their ball around inside the field or marked area and keep the dog catcher,(can be coach, or let the kids take turns) from getting their dog (ball). If the dog catcher kicks their ball out of the marked area they are out and must sit on their ball until everyone is out, or only one player is left. My teams have really enjoyed this game and beg to play it every practice. It's good for all ages. It's so fun they don't realize they are learning how to dribble in the process.
