Fielding Grounders

Rick Orth on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

At the first practice I have all the players throw their gloves in a pile. I then kick dirt all over them and have them do this as well. This is a reminder to them that they must keep their glove in the dirt when fielding grounders. I then make them field ground balls with their bare hands (don't hit them too hard!!) This forces them to get their hands and rear-ends down to field the ball. When they can do this consistently, give them back their gloves and see how well they field everything!!!
