Communicating

Jim Laudate on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

In the past I would always give my players a handout that included team rules, roster, schedules for games and practices and phone tree. Last year while I did the same, I also obtained the kids e-mail addresses and set up an address book for them. Any and all changes to the schedules are sent out via e-mail and I no longer have a parent tell me that they were not informed. One less headache. A youth coach and I talked about practice orginization, he coached an 11-12 boys baseball team, I suggested the e-mail and at the end of the season told me that they had no rescheduling problems and that the kids loved getting mail. He also used it as a reminder to: wear sunscreen, bring water or sports drinks etc. It appears that there is no age limit.
