On the Run Passing/Shooting

Nick Jenkins on 15-May-2007 at 13:31:57

Place two cones about two to three feet apart. (This will be the goal) Line your players up about 20 to 25 yards in front of the cones. Start out just letting them kick the ball through the cones from where they are. Mix it up by passing them the ball and let them kick it through on the first touch, or trap it then kick it. Have other players be the passer. Line the kids up at different angles, so they get use to passing and shooting on angles. Mix it up by moving the line back to about 40 yards, pass them the ball, and have the kids run up and kick the ball through, on the first touch. You will see the players accuracy increase in the first practice. To keep my players interested, I tell them that for every shoot they make, I will do one push-up, and when they miss a shot, the whole team does one push-up. Man, they love to watch me do push-ups, and laugh at me too. They learned not to miss.
